watched The Other Boleyn Girl with lam a while back but havent had the chance to post about it lol.

SPOILERS.

it was really good, and the cast was top-notch seriously. natalie portman can really act, and though she is portrayed as an overly-ambitious person who would stop at nothing to get what she wants, in the end you still sympathise with her because the desperation on her face and her plight would simply not allow you to feel otherwise.

on the other hand, you'll totally detest the male members of the boleyn clan, (excluding the brother, george), because they use the children as pawns to fulfill their own selfish goals.

i'll recommend people to read the book first though, cos there are certain parts that they left out (george's highly unconventional relationship with another guy, the power and dignity of the queen which wasnt emphasised much in the film cos natalie and scarlett were the younger, pretty things lol, and etcetc), and various aspects of the story were edited (the mother wasnt that good a person, in the book she didnt even care about the girls).

Portman, who plays Anne Boleyn, and the King whose brain is apparently located in the male anatomy. She seduces him and in the end got him to annul his marriage to the queen, so that he can "have" her.

Scarlett as Mary, the younger and more goodwilled sister who eventually stepped aside for anne even though she gave birth to the king's son, who was actually a bastard cos she was just his mistress

Brother George, who was forced to marry a girl he hated. at the later part of the story, he and anne committed incest out of anne's desperation to hide the fact that she gave birth to a stillborn as the king might just dismiss her and call her a witch/behead her. BUT that didnt happen in the film, they ALMOST committed incest, but didnt because George chickened out.

lam and i knew about the incest part, but i think the majority of the audience didnt because we could hear a collective "ewwww" when anne pleaded with george lol.

after watching the show, you'll go "hurray" for human modernization. seriously, who wants to be stuck in a time where females were just seen as what, reproducing machines?

lam and i agreed that when the world was created, one of the facts that should have been IMMEDIATELY known was that males have the XY genes and it's not the fault of females that a son cannot be born.

0.o i sound kinda like a feminist huh. LOL

oh yeah it was lam's and my first time watching a NC16 movie on the big screen, (not counting the other movies we watch at home), and she's already 18 years old. hm the only reason why it's rated NC16 is probably because of the sex scene, in which almost everything is covered in blankets and the bountiful of cloth those ancient people wore. so yeah, nothing much actually.

i think the only thing i would love, if i lived in those times, would be the beds. big and comfy with enormous pillows which would actually be handy should someone decide to smother you haha.

0.o what a wordy post. funny pictures of 4G peeps in the next one i promise
